Our Goal
Establishing and maintaining a successful University requires very large amounts of funding.
Our goal is to raise at least 5 million dollars to do this - and that's just to begin with. We hope that you will generously sponsor this event, our attempt at Fund Raising for this special charity project.
Trek to Everest Base Camp
A Charity Fund Raising event to establish a University and other Knowledge Enhancement Facilities.
We at SihaDerana, Inc. and www.SihaDerana.com, are organizing an adventurous expedition to experience the Magnificence of the Himalayas, as a charity fund raising event.
We plan to reach the Base Camp of Mount Everest in Nepal (which is at an altitude of over 5000 meters,) and return, trekking between 120 to 150 kilometers, through hazardous terrain.
Our goal with this fund raising event is to raise sufficient funds to establish a University (and related Knowledge Enhancement Facilities) to further the advancement of Education.
What we plan to do from these funds:
- Set up basic educational facilities in rural areas of Sri Lanka to be made available to those less affluent.
- Incorporate a separate Public Charity Corporation for the purposes of advancement of education to establish a University subsequent to getting the relevant approvals and accreditations from the USA. This is to further the same purposes that we at SihaDerana, Inc. have - to further the advancement of education. The new corporation will specifically provide advanced educational facilities available at costs affordable to less affluent persons in the society; persons who sometimes fully deserve such opportunities, and who are otherwise unable to get it.
