Decision Making at SihaDerana


Every decision made at SihaDerana must be tested against the following 9 key questions to determine the adherence to the fundamentals of SihaDerana.


  1. Whole of the real truth
    Are the real facts being presented wholly, truthfully and correctly with each fact stated separately and clearly, unhindered by the various - misleading argumentative facts, statistical analysis, theories etc?

    Answer must be Yes.

  2. Pure Theravada Buddhism
    Would this decision lead to any activity not adhering to the principles of Theravada Buddhism or would it give rise to misrepresentation or adulteration of Theravada Dhamma, either now or at some future point in time?

    Answer must be No.

  3. Equal Opportunities
    Would this decision give rise to any inequality of opportunity to any one or more persons?

    Answer must be No.

  4. Unanimous Agreement
    Did anyone in the advisory panels have any concerns or issues at any time in the decision making process?

    Answer must be No.

    If the answer is yes, were those concerns or issues discussed openly and freely and resolved with unanimous agreement?

    Answer must be Yes.

  5. Correct Compensation for Services Rendered
    Would this decision prevent correct compensation being given to any person, from whom goods or services have been obtained?

    Answer must be No.

  6. Transparency in Finances
    Would this decision lead to affect the “being non-political” aspects of SihaDerana?

    Answer must be Yes.

  7. Peace and Harmony in the Society
    Would this decision give rise to the development of any aspects in the society to breakdown the peace and harmony in the day-to-day living of the people?

    Answer must be No.

  8. Progress of Sinhala and Bauddha Living
    Would this decision give rise to hindering the progress and/or continuation of the Sinhala /Bauddha ways of the Sri Lankan society?

    Answer must be No.

  9. Non-political
    Would this decision lead to affect the “being non-political” aspects of SihaDerana?

    Answer must be No.
