Our Funding, Revenue and Contributions
We are an institution committed to doing charity work to uphold and develop the society in general, primarily in the field of Advancement of Education.
However, at SihaDerana we believe that we are very different from other charity organizations.
Our current projects
We are currently in need of large amounts of funds for establishing the planned Knowledge Enhancement Facilities, the Premier Buddhist University, and the documenting and making available the unadulterated version of the Theravada Dhamma to overcome the covert activities aimed at destroying Buddhism.

We are also in the midst of planning a trip to Everest Base Camp - a fund raising event to raise money for SihaDerana's planned Theravada Buddhist University.
Our organization is run and managed so that we do not depend on contributions. We do not ask individuals for donations.
Operating in this manner means that our funding comes primarily by way of providing various products and services through our charity sales at cost effective prices for our well wishers and loyal customer base. We encourage anyone who can, to contribute some money towards our funding, whatever they can afford.
However, it helps our operations to progress at a smoother pace if we receive substantial financial contributions from individuals.
We believe in providing products, facilities, and services that set new higher standards for life, and which are useful, and all at reasonable and competitive prices. When possible, everything we provide is produced from within the organization itself, as well as from the communities we assist. These will help us to further our goal of providing self sustaining development to raise the standards of living in the society.

All contributions are welcome, and we thank you in advance for helping SihaDerana in any way you can.
However, we do not accept contributions of material items, as most often we will have to spend more money to clean, store, safeguard, transport and manage these than what is required to purchase the same item locally.
At this current moment in time we are still in the process of organizing our Online Store where, in the very near future you will be able to purchase any number of products, such as Tea, Books and other items.
In fact, we hold the same views and mentality towards our charity work; specifically we will not give free handouts, but will provide help and assistance to communities and individuals to help themselves to a better living over the longer term. We strive to build solid foundations for the future, not just for our own organization but for those we try to assist as well. To this end our primary direction is providing education and information relevant to upholding good social values.
Being a non-profit organization all profits from all of our ventures go directly into funding our charity work.
We do not depend on donations. However, we are approached sometimes by generous and selfless individuals who appreciate our efforts and who offer help via a charitable donation. What all of our contributors have in common is that they all wish to develop the society we operate in and all trust SihaDerana to follow the right path, and all insist on total anonymity.
When such individuals approach us we accept their help with gratitude. However, we accept only financial contributionsWhy not material goods?Because most often we will have to spend more money to clean, store, safeguard, transport and manage these than what is required to purchase the same item locally. and always on the condition that it will not be publicized by us, nor do we provide the contributor with any right or access to manage or direct any aspect of SihaDerana.
SihaDerana, the institution, does recognize such efforts on your part, and though we strictly enforce the confidentiality of our contributors, we would like to thank all those who have donated selflessly for this cause. You know and we know who you are and what you have done.
We also know that our success and visible financial aspects are proof of our honest goodwill, to satisfy your conscience regards usage of the funds.
We value the many people who purchase products and services from us. In many ways you are the lifeblood of the charity. Please continue to support us by purchasing products and services from our online sales center which will be up and running shortly.
SihaDerana also provides many free and open services and products to the community. This website is one such service where we provide information for you. As the site grows there will be more and more useful information, services and products being provided free, all with the eventual goal of furthering the preservation and development to a higher standard, Sri Lanka, its society, its civilization, and Buddhism - its foundation.
