In Lesson Two of the Kiyanna section we introduce you to some more words. At this stage there is every chance that you are not yet familiar with the written sinhala hodiya and so are unable to read the words given below. This is alright.
In these very first lessons you should first learn to listen to and hear the different sounds made by the different words. This will help you in learning the sinhala language with greater ease.
Below you will find a set of eight words. These words are short and simple and are words that are used on a daily basis by just about everyone who speaks sinhala. This is your first introduction in to conversing in sinhala.
(If you wish to learn conversational sinhala first you will want to go from this lesson to the separate section we have on conversational sinhala.)
We have found that it is always handy to know how to say ‘Yes’, ‘No’, ‘Ok’, and ‘Don’t’ among other things when first encountering a new language. You can even think of these as universal words that are not only easy to learn but which are also helpful in the long run.
